The larger point is that if Trump were cannier and more self-controlled, the march to autocracy might well be unstoppable.
What I wonder: Part of Trump's appeal is the craziness. The irrationality. Could a stable genius have the same appeal bringing him into this position? I believe a requirement for Trump being successful is the feeling of some Republicans to have a puppet in Trump. The lack of social initiatives is partly result of the puppeteers playing.
Luckily, Trump Is an Unstable Non-Genius
His mental deficiencies may save American democracy.
